A local business is set to help young people into the world of work using virtual reality (VR).
Salthill Digital in Slough, Berkshire will be running a free programme for 35 people aged between 18-25, the program will build scenarios through VR that they can interact with, preparing them for the modern workplace.
VR is a computer-generated 3D environment that provides an immersive, interactive experience which allows users to feel present in a simulated world through headsets.
Director Ben Mitchell said: “There’s a lot of cutting edge technology the community can use to make themselves feel comfortable in different situations.”
Mr Mitchell explained that they want to use “cool technology” such as artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) to run mock interviews and write cover letters and CV’s.
He hopes that it will “helps everyone and anyone get ready for jobs”.
He said: “We will use a 360 camera to film the mock interview and then we can play that video in the headset so it feels really real and immersive.
“It will be like they are actually in that situation and the aim is that they will feel prepared and less nervous in everyday life.”
He said: “This is the future of workplace readiness training and will help those struggling get to grips with the modern workplace.”
“I believe this is such a great opportunity, especially as it allows people who might not be able to go, to gain the experience from the comfort of their own home.”
