IIF-RegTech Association Roundtable – AI in Practice

The Institute of International Finance (IIF) and the RegTech Association look forward to co-hosting an in-person roundtable on AI in Practice: Navigating Geoeconomics and Focusing Value, to take place on Friday, October 3 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm in Sydney.

This invitation-only event will convene senior financial industry officials, executives, and experts to discuss AI innovation, competition, investment, capacity building, and governance within the current global geoeconomic context. Specifically, the conversation will explore:

+ The stark differences in the plans that the U.S. and China, the two most advanced nations in AI, have implications for Australia as it navigates on trade and defense. Australia’s position in the region is also impactful for how it builds its AI technology stack, incentivizes investment, and attracts scarce experts.

+  In Australia and across the APAC region, AI use cases related to fraud prevention, AML, KYC, and those that support operational efficiencies have gained momentum for various reasons. However, conversations about quantifiable returns and ROI are more complex. What are the priority applications? How are AI Agents and the prospect of Agentic Commerce changing this?

+ Looking forward to 2026, what support do financial institutions need from industry bodies and regulatory authorities to navigate the path forward?

This invitation-only event will be held under the Chatham House Rule and will be closed to the press.
