Ja Morant is among the players born on August 10.
With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including four leap day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.
Below are the most notable NBA players born on August 10.
Ja Morant (1999)
Morant has one of the best highlight reels of any player in the NBA, but there’s much more to him than just flash. He was one of the best players in the country at Murray State, which earned him the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. Ja got off on the right foot there by winning Rookie of the Year. The numbers have only risen since then, with Morant making his first All-Star appearance two years later. In that breakout campaign, Morant averaged a career-high 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
He also won the Most Improved Player award while finishing seventh in the MVP voting that year. It was also the first of two straight All-Star and All-NBA nods. There’s little doubt that a fully healthy Morant is one of the most unstoppable forces in basketball.
Andre Drummond (1993)
Drummond has arguably been one of the best rebounders in the NBA over the last 20 years. The big man was a standout at UConn and parlayed that into the ninth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. The Detroit Pistons took him with that Top 10 pick, with Drummond finishing fourth in Rookie of the Year voting. That was the only time he didn’t finish averaging double-digit rebounds over the next decade. Starting in his second season, Drummond actually led the league in offensive rebounds in seven straight seasons. He also took down the total rebounding crown in four of those, averaging 15.2 points, 14.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 blocks overall in that stretch.
Drummond received Defensive Player of the Year votes three times during that span while making two All-Star appearances. He spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls thereafter. The big man is entering his 14th season, averaging 12.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He’s also just one of four active players with over 10,000 rebounds, ranked second only behind the ageless LeBron James.
