D4vd’s Tesla was found abandoned and later moved to an impound lot in Hollywood. Workers at the lot reported a strong odor coming from the vehicle, leading to the discovery of the dead body of Celeste Rivas. Her cause of death remains undetermined. The remains had a tattoo on the right index finger that read: “Shhh.”
According to the New York Post website, surveillance footage from March 19, 2024, shows Rivas jogging near a Lake Elsinore, Calif., liquor store, a clip later confirmed by her sister. The store’s owner, Elie Naddaf, said he provided the family with the footage in hopes it would help locate her. Authorities say the teen had run away multiple times last year, and the last family contact with her was in July. Her case took a tragic turn in September 2025 when authorities discovered her decomposed body in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to 20-year-old singer-songwriter David Anthony Burke, professionally known as D4vd.
Who is David Anthony Burke, a.k.a D4vd?
D4vd, born David Anthony Burke in 2005, is an American singer-songwriter from Houston, Texas, known for lo-fi, emotionally charged music that blends alternative, indie, R&B, and pop. He gained fame in 2022 with viral singles like “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” and released his debut album Withered in 2025.
Police carried out a search warrant at the Hollywood Hills mansion where Burke had been residing, confiscating electronics and computers. Authorities said the musician has been fully cooperative, canceled tour dates, and moved out of the $20,000-a-month rental shortly after the search. Burke has not been identified as a suspect or person of interest, as investigators continue to determine how Rivas died and how her body came to be in the vehicle.
“At this time, the LAPD does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death. Thus, we do not have any suspect information at this time,” the LAPD said in a statement to NBC News.
Friends and online contacts speculated that Rivas may have connected with Burke on social media earlier in 2024. Screenshots circulating on Discord suggested a link between the teen and the artist, though police have not made any claims regarding their relationship. Her body has since been released to family members, who held a memorial in Lake Elsinore.
