IFSC President Marco Scolaris announced the closing of the IFSC Climbing and Para Climbing World Championship Seoul 2025 last night, with the traditional handover ceremony.
The IFSC flag, brought on stage by the new Lead world champion Dohyun Lee, was passed from the Korea Alpine Federation to the Czech Mountaineering Association by Scolaris, after the thankful message of Jwajin Cho, President of the Korean Alpine Federation. Stepan Volf, on behalf of the Czech Mountaineering Association, will ideally carry home the flag to initiate the IFSC Climbing and Para Climbing World Championships Brno 2027.
“We have been living in a dream for ten entire days – said Scolaris in his public speech at the KSPO Dome.- In this temple of sport, the KSPO Dome, center stage of the Olympic Games 1988, the best climbers and para climbers of the world have climbed together, in peaceful competitions. They will all keep unforgettable memories of these days, of the perfect organisation of the event, of the love of the fans, and of the attention of the media. Once again, the magic of climbing, the magic of sport, brings people together. For the first time in South Korea, we have had a Para Climbing World Championship. Peace, inclusion, and resilience are our guiding lights. We are one family; we live in one world; we offer respect and hope.
Thanks to the city of Seoul and the Korea Alpine Federation, thanks to the volunteers, the sponsors, thanks to television and journalists, thanks to you, a fantastic audience that accompanied our athletes and para athletes with such enthusiastic support… and thanks to my colleagues and friends, the IFSC Magic Team.
Together we climb higher, faster and stronger.
Now it is time to turn the page again. I declare the 2025 Climbing and Paraclimbing World Championships in Seoul, South Korea, closed!
Thank you all – and see you in Brno, in the Czech Republic”.
