Golf Ends First Day of UConn Invitational at GreatHorse in Second Place

HAMPDEN, Mass. — The Villanova men’s golf team ended day one of the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse sitting tied for second overall Sunday. 

VU shot 296 (+8) as a team en route to the solid round one performance. Leaders and hosts, UConn, shot even on the day. 

Vibhav Alokam, Matt Zerfass and Luke Leonard all finished the day shooting 73 (+1) as all three are tied for 14th. 

Alokam birdied at 8, 12, 14 and 17 as the sophomore birdied three times on the back nine. 

Zerfass birdied at holes five, 11 and 13. 

Leonard birdied twice and parred 12 of the 18 holes Sunday, golfing as an individual. 

Nathan Marion and Brockton English both finished tied for 29th on the day after shooting 75 (+3) on the day. 

Ryan Pamer finished tied for 43rd Sunday after shooting 77 (+5).
