In spite of the delay from its original September 3 release (that darn Hollow Knight: Silksong), Panik Arcade’s roguelike psychological horror slot machine game CloverPit is out now on Steam. The “demonic lovechild of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette” is currently available with a nifty 10% discount until October 10.
CloverPit is a sinister tale of addiction and escape, where you’re trapped in a hell of your own creation. You are locked in a rusty cell with a slot machine and an ATM, you must pay off your debt at the end of each round, or end up falling to your doom. Luckily, you can manipulate the slot machine to earn extra coins, as well as turn the odds in your favor with various prizes and charms that trigger big combos that can set you off on a lucky run. Plan ahead, and find the best strategies to get the game snowballing into a lucky run.
Seeing as this is a roguelite, you can earn unlockable run modifiers and 150+ power-ups to help you work towards one of the multiple endings for CloverPit. And once you’ve polished off the story, you can always push to get the high score in the game’s Endless Mode.
The developers stress that CloverPit is a roguelite horror game, and not a slot machine simulator. The slot machine is designed to be broken and ultimately overcome, and will never ask you for real money.
