EXCLUSIVE: Right Now with John Goblikon, the podcast starring the goblin frontman of L.A. death metal band Nekrogoblikon, has joined the podcast network of Bill Burr and Al Madrigal’s All Things Comedy.
Originating as a web series, Right Now is a comedy interview show where John (aka Dave Rispoli) chats with friends from stand-up, music, and entertainment. Past guests include Andrew Santino, Pete Holmes, Paul Scheer, Steph Tolev, Lisa Gilroy, Ron Funches, Kumail Nanjiani, Gareth Reynolds, Chloe Radcliffe, and many more.
Brandon Dermer (I’m Totally Fine), Rispoli (What Would Diplo Do?), and Alex Alereza co-created the show, which launched last October, and also serve as producers. Rispoli hosts each episode as the title character John Goblikon and also serves as showrunner.
Rispoli’s office-goblin persona, John Goblikon, originated with the viral music video for Nekrogoblikon’s 2011 single, “No One Survives.” Since then, he’s evolved into a touring hype-goblin/frontman, internet character, comedic host and author of John Goblikon’s Guide to Living Your Best Life. Over 50 episodes of his podcast Right Now have been produced to date.
Nekrogoblikon has toured the world with Gwar, Dethklok, Dragonforce and many more. They’ve also played at the likes of Download Festival, The Vans Warped Tour and Riotfest and next month will tour all across the UK. They’ll then head back to the States for a mini tour followed by performing on Lamb of God’s Headbangers Boat Cruise.
All Things Comedy is home to podcasts and digital series including Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast, The Zarna Garg Family Podcast, The Dollop with Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds, TigerBelly from Bobby Lee and Khalyla Kuhn, Breaking Bread with Tom Papa, and Rick Glassman’s Take Your Shoes Off, among dozens of others. In addition, ATC is known for producing stand-up specials, series, and films — including the recently wrapped Unt. BriTANicK Pizza Movie starring Gaten Matarazzo, Sean Giambrone, and Lulu Wilson for Hulu, which will premiere next year.
ATC appointed Chance Nichols to the role of Director of Network Creative and Strategy, which has him working on show creative for their pod network’s current shows while helping to develop others, in August, as we were first to report.
