Egyptian top seed Menna Walid and her compatriot Omar El Torkey clinched the men’s and women’s titles, respectively, at the HCL Squash Indian Tour Bengaluru 2025 event at the Lakshyan Academy of Sports on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old Walid, world No. 104, overcame Malaysia’s 16-year-old squash player Harleein Tan 3-1 (11-6, 11-5, 6-11, 11-8) in the PSA Challenger final. Torkey defeated fellow Egyptian and third seed Seif Shenawy 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-4) to lift the men’s crown.
India’s campaign ended in the semi-finals of both draws. Second seed Suraj Kumar Chand fell 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-8) to Torkey, having earlier beaten fifth-seeded Dutchman Sebastiaan Hofman 11-2, 11-6, 11-4 in the quarters.
On the women’s side, fourth seed Anjali Semwal was defeated 3-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-4) by Harleein Tan, after a 3-1 (11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-2) quarter-final win over Malaysia’s Rui Jean Yek.
The Bengaluru leg marked the third stop of the six-leg India Squash Tour, which kicked off on August 4 in Jaipur.
Egypt’s Nour Khafagy and Yassin Shohdy won the Jaipur leg, while the Mumbai leg went to Indian squash players Veer Chotrani and Tanvi Khanna. The remaining tournaments are scheduled for Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
The events have been sanctioned by the Professional Squash Association (PSA), and consist of a 24-player field with crucial ranking points on offer. Anahat Singh has not featured on the 2025 edition of the India Squash Tour so far.
