Carlos Alcaraz defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the Japan Open final to win his ATP Tour-leading eighth title of the season on Tuesday (30 September).
World No. 1 Alcaraz won 6-4, 6-4 in the first Japan Open final to be contested by the top two seeds in 14 years for his career-best 67th victory of the campaign.
In his ninth consecutive appearance in a final, Alcaraz successfully got payback after losing to Fritz, the 2022 winner here, at the Laver Cup in San Francisco two weekends ago.
