2025 Wimbledon final – Sinner goes for first grass crown, Alcaraz chases three-peat
The most important stat in this rivalry concerns their previous meetings, of which Alcaraz has won eight while Sinner has four wins over the 22-year-old.
For Alcaraz, it is now five consecutive victories against Sinner, with the last two in clay-court finals in Rome and Paris. Sinner is chasing his first triumph against his opponent since the China Open in October 2023.
That being said, Sinner has the edge on grass with a 1-0 record from their only previous meeting at Wimbledon 2022. He arrives at his first SW19 final in comparison to Alcaraz’s third appearance in a row in the title decider on Centre Court.
World No.1 Sinner will extend his stay at the top of the ATP rankings regardless of the result, his 57th consecutive week. That figure will put him eighth in the all-time list of maximum consecutive weeks at the top, overtaking another Spanish star in Nadal.
The Wimbledon 2025 final will be the fifth major meeting between Sinner and Alcaraz, where the latter has a 3-1 head-to-head record on the Grand Slam stage.
After battling it out for five hours and 29 minutes in this year’s French Open final – their longest-ever match and the second-longest Grand Slam final ever – that makes it three consecutive Slam meetings that have gone the distance of five sets and surpassed four hours on court. On all occasions, Alcaraz has emerged victorious.
