Solo Sikoa Beats Jimmy Uso to Retain WWE US Title At SNME XL As Jacob Fatu Returns

Solo Sikoa defeated his brother, Jimmy Uso, to retain the United States Championship at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Sikoa stole the victory with help from Tonga Loa, who used his boot from outside the ring to help secure the pin and seal the win.

The clash between brothers reached its peak after the match, when Jacob Fatu made his return to Uso’s aid and took down Sikoa’s army in a surprise post-match attack.

Over the past several weeks, Uso has joined forces with Jacob Fatu in a rivalry against Sikoa’s stable, which also features JC Mateo, Loa and Talla Tonga.

After being aligned with Sikoa for about a year, Fatu finally turned on Solo at Money in the Bank when he stopped him from ascending the ladder and securing the Money in the Bank contract.

That made Fatu a huge target for Sikoa and his group, leading to a singles match between Fatu and Solo with The Samoan Werewolf’s U.S. title on the line at Night of Champions.

During their title bout, Sikoa benefited from interference by Mateo and Loa, the latter of whom made his return from an injury. Fatu managed to fight them off, but the debuting Talla Tonga proved too much to overcome.

After Talla chokeslammed Fatu through the announce table, Sikoa hit him with a Samoan Spike and pinned him to win his first championship on the main roster.

Fatu was out for revenge coming out of Night of Champions, and he picked up a somewhat unexpected ally in Jimmy Uso, who had been at odds with Fatu in the past.

On the July 4 episode of SmackDown, Fatu and Uso beat Sikoa and Mateo in a tag team match with Fatu getting the pin on Solo. However, Fatu paid the price afterward, as Sikoa and his crew put him through a table.

With Uso being on the winning end of a tag team match against Sikoa, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis announced that he had earned a title match against his brother at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

While Uso is one of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time along with his twin brother, Jey, SNME marked an opportunity to win a singles title for the first time.

Big Jim gave Solo all he could handle, but it wasn’t enough to take the United States Championship from Sikoa early in his reign.
