It’s 40 years to the day since music history was made – and this summer we are celebraying with the ultimate tribute concert in Newport as we host ‘Live Aid Tribute at Rodney Parade’.
Live Aid was an event like no other. A two-venue benefit concert and music-based fundraising phenomenon held on Saturday, 13 July 1985. Organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise further funds for relief of the famine in Ethiopia, a movement that started with the release of the successful charity single ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ in December 1984. Billed as the “global jukebox”, Live Aid was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia.
We will be paying homage to the legendary Live Aid’ 85 show that rocked the world on Saturday, August 30 at the home of Dragons RFC.
Our eight-hour musical spectacular – that starts at 2pm – is certain to get on your feet and partying – and tickets are on sale NOW as we celebrate the 40th year anniversary of the original UK Live Aid event.
This magnificent day will also include an appearance from Rick Parfitt Junior – son of legendary Status Quo front man who appeared at the original Live Aid.
We will have a host of acts taking part as we pay tribute to the likes of Elton John, U2, Queen, Madonna and David Bowie.
There will also be wide range of food and drinks outlets open on the day.
