Carlberg’s latest success for the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team leaves him 37 points ahead in his pursuit of title glory in the Hankook-equipped category with two events remaining.
But Schrott said it was vital that there’s no loss of focus on the upcoming Barum Czech Rally Zlín and the season-deciding Croatia Rally in October.
“Calle dominated the strong Junior ERC field in much the same way as he did recently in Hungary and Poland, that was very impressive,” Schrott said after Carlberg and co-driver Jørgen Eriksen won their category on the all-asphalt Italian round earlier this month. “We won’t celebrate any titles until they’ve been won, and we’ll approach the next rallies with the same focus and motivation as the previous ones. But the starting position is undoubtedly excellent.”

Junior ERC rookie Pröglhöf backed to get stronger
Luca Pröglhöf, who is following in Calle Carlberg’s wheel tracks by stepping up to Junior ERC as his prize for winning the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup, a title the Austrian secured in 2024, has been backed to deliver a stronger performance when Barum Czech Rally Zlín hosts the penultimate round of the championship from 15 – 17 August.
After posting the sixth fastest time in class on stage two of Rally di Roma Capitale, the 25-year-old rolled into retirement on stage four and was unable to restart on leg two.
Opel Motorsport director Jörg Schrott said: “Luca had to learn the hard way on these demanding asphalt stages, which is sometimes the price a Junior ERC rookie has to pay at this level. He will learn from this and go into the next events stronger.”
