LAS VEGAS — Ja’Kobe Walter’s 26-point effort and highly opportunistic defense, along with a trio of clutch free throws in the closing seconds, led the Toronto Raptors to a hard-fought 101-97 comeback victory over the Denver Nuggets in an NBA2K26 Summer League battle at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Tuesday night.

A game that would aptly be described as a tale of two halves began with the Nuggets holding a 44-39 halftime lead after a strong defensive effort throughout the first two quarters. However, the Raptors came out of intermission dominating on both ends of the floor, going on a torrid 19-0 run on their way to an 11-point advantage ahead of the final period. It would then be Denver’s turn to mount a comeback, and the game ultimately wasn’t decided until Walker and A.J. Lawson combined for three points from the free-throw line to extend a 98-97 lead and seal Toronto’s victory.

Walter complemented his game-high scoring total with four rebounds, seven steals and one block. Lawson supplied 19 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one block. Jamal Shead furnished 16 points, eight assists, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Curtis Jones spearheaded what was a 48-point night for the Nuggets’ bench with a team-high 20 points, adding seven rebounds, two assists and one block. Tamar Bates delivered 14 points, three assists and three steals. Spencer Jones compiled 13 points, two boards, one assist, two blocks and one steal. Reece Beekman managed 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block. DaRon Holmes generated a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double that also included two steals.

Both teams are back in action Thursday night, with the Raptors facing the Golden State Warriors and the Nuggets tangling with the Los Angeles Clippers.
