Three killed in roof collapse in Lahore’s Akbari Mandi

Three people, including a woman and a child, were killed after the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in Lahore’s Akbari Mandi area on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 officials confirmed the deceased were identified as Samina, Rajab Ali, and young Raza Hassan. The tragic incident occurred when one of the weakened roofs of the old house suddenly caved in, burying the victims under the rubble.

Emergency responders and police rushed to the site shortly after being informed, retrieving the bodies and shifting them to a nearby hospital. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse.

Rescue and police sources stated that the house was already in a dangerous condition, and the structural failure proved fatal.

This incident comes amid a series of similar tragedies reported across the country since the onset of the monsoon season. Earlier, a roof collapse in Lahore left five people dead and two injured. In Karachi, a multi-storey residential building crumbled during heavy rainfall, claiming 26 lives.

With the monsoon rains exposing the vulnerability of old and poorly maintained structures, officials have urged citizens to report hazardous buildings and take precautionary measures to avoid further loss of life.
