MUNICH (Germany) – While much of the basketball world is focused on the NBA Summer League, fans of FIBA EuroBasket 2025 should also be paying close attention.
A number of players in Las Vegas could be fighting for the continent’s biggest prize in Cyprus, Finland, Latvia and Poland later this summer.
We went through the rosters of the Summer League teams and looked for players who could possibly return to Europe this summer and help their country at the EuroBasket.
These players below are poised to contribute significantly to their national teams at FIBA EuroBasket 2025, whether officially confirmed to be on the preliminary squads or expected to be, when they are made public.
Adem Bona – Türkiye
Power Forward
Birth Date: March 28, 2003 (22 years old)
Height: 2.08m (6ft 10in)
Team: Philadelphia 76ers
The 2003-born Turkish big man was selected in the second round of the 2024 draft and made his NBA debut with Milwaukee last season. Bona is with Philadelphia 76ers in Las Vegas and he is averaging 7.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 blocks in the Summer League. He could be a major rim protector in the paint this summer for Türkiye. He last played for his country at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2022 – his sixth youth national team competition.
Guard
Birth Date: February 23, 2001 (24 years old)
Height: 1.96m (6ft 5in)
Team: Miami Heat
The Swedish wing shined in the Summer League with 18.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists with Miami. Larsson will be a major scoring threat for Sweden at FIBA EuroBasket 2025. The 24-year-old played two windows of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers after three youth events.
Eli John Ndiaye – Spain
Center
Birth Date: June 26, 2004 (21 years old)
Height: 2.08m (6ft 10in)
Team: Atlanta Hawks
Ndiaye contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds in one Summer League game with the Hawks. The Senegalese-Spanish big man has yet to play for Spain but has been included on the defending champion’s preliminary roster for FIBA EuroBasket 2025.
Ben Saraf – Israel
Guard
Birth Date: April 14, 2006 (19 years old)
Height: 1.99m (6ft 6in)
Team: Brooklyn Nets
Saraf has collected 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the Summer League for the Nets. The guard has already played in two windows of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers for Israel. And Saraf will undoubtedly be relied upon for playmaking and scoring at this summer’s big event.
Alex Sarr – France
Center
Birth Date: April 26, 2005 (20 years old)
Height: 2.13m (7ft 0in)
Team: Washington Wizards
Sarr has been a monster in two games at the Summer League for the Wizards with 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.5 blocks. The big man has yet to play for France’s senior national team but he will be a major presence in the paint for Les Bleus. Sarr’s last appearance for his country was taking second place at FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2023
Luka Scuka – Slovenia
Forward
Birth Date: May 23, 2002 (23 years old)
Height: 2.08m (6ft 10in)
Team: New York Knicks
Scuka contributed 4.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in the Summer League for the Knicks. The 23-year-old Slovenian forward has yet to play in a major tournament, appearing in FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers and FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers as well as one game at the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament Greece.
Saliou Niang – Italy
Forward
Birth Date: May 14, 2004 (21 years old)
Height: 1.99m (6ft 06in)
Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
Niang has chipped in 7.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in Las Vegas for the Cavaliers. The 21-year-old small forward appeared in one game of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers for Italy and he could be included to get more experience and help with energy off the bench this summer.
Olivier Nkamhoua – Finland
Forward
Birth Date: May 2, 2000 (25 years old)
Height: 2.03m (6ft 8in)
Team: Portland Trail Blazers
Nkamhoua has tallied 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds for the Trail Blazers in the Summer League. The 25-year-old forward played at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and was a major force for Finland in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.
Ajay Mitchell – Belgium
Guard
Birth Date: June 25, 2002 (23 years old)
Height: 1.96m (6ft 5in)
Team: Oklahoma City Thunder
Mitchell has been one of the best players in the Summer League with 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists for the Thunder. The 23-year-old guard has already made his mark with the Belgian national team, playing in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers and also played at the FIBA U20 FIBA U20 European Challengers 2021.
Amari Williams – Great Britain
Center
Birth Date: January 28, 2002 (23 years old)
Height: 2.11m (6ft 11in)
Team: Boston Celtics
Williams has compiled 5.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in Las Vegas for the Celtics. The 23-year-old second round pick would be a major help this summer to Great Britain, for whom he hasn’t played since he was 17 years old at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2019.
Other players
Germany and Serbia are two major powers – the champions and finalists, respectively at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 – who have a number of players fighting for spots on their EuroBasket teams this summer.
