Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 official unboxing highlights the advantages of the new FlexWindow

Samsung has posted an official unboxing of the Galaxy Z Flip7, which goes over the main upgrades for the 2025 generation. A lot of it is centered around the larger 4.1” cover display, plus the new AI features introduced with One UI 8 (based on Android 16).

First things first, the phone comes in a small box that also contains a USB C-to-C cable and a short user manual.

The Z Flip7 is the thinnest Z Flip to date, measuring 13.7mm when folded and 6.5mm when unfolded. And Samsung has the photos to prove it. The Armor Aluminum frame and Armor FlexHinge work together to lend rigidity to the phone.

The phone adds a new hue to the Z Flip palette, a navy blue dubbed “Blue Shadow”. Samsung.com exclusively offers an additional color, Mint.

The new cover display – or as Samsung terms it, the FlexWindow – is significantly larger than before, measuring 4.1” compared to 3.4”. The bezels have all but disappeared at just 1.25mm thick.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 also has a larger inner display than its predecessor, 6.9” vs. 6.7”. Both cover and inner displays can boost to 2,600 nits for outdoor visibility. On the Z Flip6, only the inner display can reach 2,600 nits, the outer one tops out at 1,600 nits.

Back to the FlexWindow, it’s a great tool for taking selfies. Quick tip: the area around the cameras lights up in certain colors depending on the mode: white is the standard mode, yellow is for photos and red is for videos.

You can use the Zoom Slider to frame your shot or let Auto Zoom do it automatically – this is great for group shots where you can’t hold the phone. New this generation is real-time preview of filters on the FlexWindow.

The FlexWindow is also the home of the Google Gemini AI agent. You can long-press the Power button and start talking to it – it can even use the camera to see the world and answer questions like “Can you recommend an outfit color that matches today’s makeup?”

Additionally, the Now Bar shows music and video controls and at-a-glance info from various apps with real-time updates. Now Brief focuses on personalized information based on your location, time and your usage patterns.

Even better, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is the first Z Flip to support DeX. Just plug in a display into the USB-C port (and you can add peripherals like a keyboard and mouse) and start using it as a desktop workstation.
