The New Eska Amphibian 250 Green Turtle

Although the young microbrand Eska only resurfaced last year, it has a much longer track record to back up its name. Founded in 1918 in Granges, Switzerland, Eska made a name for itself with its robust tool watches, which proved popular in North and South American, Australian, and Asian markets. As many during the quartz crisis, the brand didn’t survive and ceased operations in 1987… Recently revived from the dead, the brand returned in 2024 with the launch of the Eska Amphibian 250, a vintage-inspired dive watch with a bold design. Following the inaugural black model, the White Shark edition and an audacious Red Viper version, there’s now a new limited edition, the Amphibian 250 Green Turtle.

A bit earlier this year, Eska proved that it wasn’t a brand solely dedicated to dive watches and introduced a racing chronograph to expand its collection. Not a reason to lose track of its origins, though, the brand now returns to its popular dive watch series with a new and captivating edition of the Eska Amphibian 250.

With this in mind, the basics are identical. A retro-style diver inspired by a 1960s watch named the Amphibian 600, the Amphibian 250 relies on a classic recipe: vintage design, modern specs, fairly compact dimensions and reasonable price… And great personality too. The stainless steel case of the Eska Amphibian 250 Green Turtle, like the rest of the collection, measures 40mm in diameter and 13.5mm in height (lug-to-lug is 46mm). The case is brushed on top, polished on the sides and comes with a solid screwed caseback. It is topped by a retro-shaped box sapphire crystal, and water-resistance is rated at a comfortable 250m, with a screw-down crown.

Besides its classic skin-diver look, most of the character of the Eska Amphibian 250 comes from its oversized display elements, starting with the bezel. Unidirectional, the bezel has a steel framing element with coin-edge knurling and is home to a wide black sapphire insert. The lower surface is printed with an oversized luminous scale, which has a reversed “countdown” 60-minute layout. In line with the Green Turtle moniker, the watch is worn on a green tropic-like FKM rubber strap.

The main novelty is, as you’ve guessed, the dial. Created to evoke exploration, the new Amphibian 250 Green Turtle comes with a smoked green dial with darker edges. The dial otherwise retains its signature design, with a sandwich construction, recessed hour markers and oversized Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The hands are equally bold, and every element is generously filled with Old Radium Super-LumiNova, pairing nicely with the green colour.

Powered by a reliable automatic Sellita SW200, the Eska Amphibian 250 Green Turtle is a limited edition of 136 pieces (a reference to its depth rating, as 136 fathoms corresponds to its 250m water-resistance). Immediately available from the brand’s website, it is priced at EUR 825 (excl. VAT). For more details, please visit eska-watches.fr.
