On Sunday 20 July it is three years to the day since the presentation of striker Robert Lewandowski as a Barça player during the 2022 Summer Tour to the US. On a rather unusual day on the preseason tour, the Polish striker was introduced to the media at the Conrad Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Now, after three seasons more than 100 goals and five trophies, Lewandowski has made good on his pledge to “form part of this great Club to make more history and win more trophies.”
Three years with plenty of success
President Joan Laporta said during the presentation that the signing of the Polish forward “had caught the attention of the world.” First under coach Xavi Hernández and now under Hansi Flick, the Barça number ‘9’ has become a key member of the squad, winning the league title and the Spanish Super Cup in his first season and adding the domestic treble of league, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup in 2024/25.
The stats tell all
Despite being 36 years of age now, Lewandowski’s commitment to his craft saw him play 46 games in his first season, 49 in his second and 52 in 2024/25. His reliability saw him scored 32 goals in his first season, ending the campaign as pichichi (top scorer) in La Liga. The following season he added another 26 in all competitions and under Hansi Flick in 2024/25 he broke his own record with 42 goals in total.
