After losing her hair to alopecia at 6 months old, 16-year-old Alessandra tears up trying on her first wig made by Tiffani Tran Calix in Metairie, LA.
When 16-year-old Alessandra tried on her first wig, her smile and tears revealed everything words couldn’t express.
At just 6 months old, Alessandra lost all her hair to alopecia. For years, her family emphasized that her beauty isn’t defined by her difference.
But now, at Tiffany Tran Calix’s studio near New Orleans, Alessandra has experienced seeing herself with hair for the first time in her memory.

“Moments like that bring us back to our purpose,” Tiffani said. “We’re not just making wigs; we’re changing lives.”
Tiffani, who founded Wigs by Tiffani after experiencing postpartum hair loss, works to remove the stigma from hair loss and wig wearing.
“Being part of such deeply personal transformations is the greatest privilege,” she said. “It humbles me, it fuels me and it constantly reminds me how powerful beauty and self-confidence really are.”
