AT&T has long offered certain subscribers a free online storage app and service designed to back up photos from their phones. That certainly sounds handy. Alas, in the tradition of “all good things must come to an end,” the service is being retired.
The bad news
Powered by tech company Asurion, AT&T Photo Storage has been available as an app for iOS and Android users alike. Through the app, AT&T subscribers can back up their photos and videos at full resolution. The service even provides tips and tricks designed to improve your picture‑taking skills.

Well, enjoy it while you can. Starting Oct. 20, 2025, AT&T Photo Storage will stop backing up your files. At that time, the app will be removed from Apple’s App Store and Google Play. The service itself, however, will still remain available until Feb. 1, 2026, at which point your stored photos will vanish as well.
The good news
OK that’s the bad news. Now for the good news: You have ample time to save your online photos if they’re not already stored elsewhere. A new web page from AT&T and Asurion provides the steps you’ll need to take.

How to download your photos from AT&T Photo Storage
- First, sign in to the AT&T Photo Storage Web Gallery.
- After you sign in, you’ll see a gallery of all your backed‑up photos and videos. Select the option to request your archive.
- You’ll then receive one email confirming your request and another informing you that your archive is ready to be downloaded. Be patient, as you may have to wait as long as 48 hours for your archive to be created.
- The email about your archive will include a link to download it. Click the link and then sign in to your account to open the Downloads page. Don’t delay, because the link stays active only for a limited time.
- The Downloads page will display a list of zip files containing your photos and videos. Each zip file can be as large as 5 GB, so the number will depend on how many files you’ve stored and their collective size. Tap the Download command for each zip file to save it to your computer.
- On your PC, unzip each file using the extraction feature built into Windows or Mac OS. You can then store your photos and videos wherever you’d like.
How to delete your AT&T Photo Storage account
After you’ve safely downloaded and inspected your files, you can delete your AT&T Photo Storage account. That process will also erase all your stored files, so make sure you’ve retrieved them all.
