Germany vs Spain at EURO 2025: When was the last time these two met?
Wednesday’s semi-final is the second time these sides have met in a major tournament in under a year.
It was only last August, at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, that they locked horns in a bid for a place on the podium.
There proved very little to separate them, with Giulia Gwinn’s second-half penalty the difference in a 1-0 victory to secure a bronze medal.
As she has done so many times before, Berger was pivotal between the sticks for her nation. On this occasion, she stood tall to palm away Alexia Putellas’ penalty with seconds left on the clock to ensure the win.
In the history of the European Championships, their last and only meeting in the finals came in 2022, when the pair were drawn together in Group B.
Germany ran out victors once more, with goals from Klara Bühl and Alexandra Popp securing three points for the eventual finalists.
