Angelbird has released a new series of Solid Flex cables that cover everything from everyday charging and editing needs to long, tethered studio setups. The range now includes USB-C 4.0, USB-C 3.2 Tether, and USB-A-to-C 3.2 cables in a variety of lengths and shapes. Let’s take a look at each of them and what they offer.
We not only cover Angelbird products, but we use them ourselves. In March, we launched a CineD Special Edition AV PRO SE CFexpress A 160GB/330GB card, and in February, they launched the AV PRO SE CFexpress B v4 Cards. Only yesterday, Angelbird launched a CFexpress B Performance Card Reader, and today, they added three new cables to their Solid Flex series – welcome news for anyone tired of loose connections and frayed cable ends.

The cable design
All three cables share the same rugged build: a flexible cotton sleeve designed to prevent tangling and withstand daily wear, as well as support for fast charging and high-resolution video output. They come in a signature Lime color (with Blue Gray available on select models) and are compatible with Angelbird’s Solid Connect system.

USB-C 4.0 Solid Flex Cable
The USB-C 4.0 Solid Flex is a universal, full-featured USB-C to USB-C cable that comes in 3 lengths (32cm/1 ft, 1m/3.3 ft, and 2m/6.6 ft). The cables support data transfers up to 40 Gb/s, 8K video output at 60 Hz via DisplayPort Alt Mode, and Power Delivery 3.1 fast charging – up to 100 W (20 V / 5 A) for the 32cm (1 ft) version, and up to 240 W (48 V / 5 A) for the 1m (3.3 ft) and 2m (6.6 ft) lengths.
The cables are available in both straight-to-straight and straight-to-right-angle configurations. They come in Lime or Blue Gray (depending on model), and are technically compatible with Thunderbolt 3, 4, and 5 systems operating at USB 4.0 speeds. Built with Angelbird’s Solid Flex™ design and a flexible cotton sleeve for durability and ease of handling, they are also Solid Connect™ compatible.

USB-C 3.2 Solid Flex Tether Cable
Designed specifically for tethered camera-to-computer use, this 4.5m (14.8 ft) USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 cable supports data transfers up to 20 Gb/s, 4K video at 60 Hz via DisplayPort Alt Mode, and fast charging up to 240 W (48 V / 5 A) using Power Delivery 3.1. It’s a USB-C to USB-C cable, available in straight-to-straight and right-angle versions, and features an integrated e-marker for safe, efficient power and data transmission.
Tether cables face a unique challenge. They are typically longer and need to maintain signal integrity over longer distances. The Solid Flex Tether Cable is built with a high-quality cotton sleeve, which makes it ultra-durable, and its low-latency design will give you a stable, responsive connection – something studio workflows often require, but standard cables rarely handle very well.

USB-A-to-C 3.2 Solid Flex Cable
A short 32 cm (1 ft) USB-A to USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 cable supporting up to 10 Gb/s, it’s useful for connecting legacy USB-A ports to newer USB-C devices. It features the same flexible cotton sleeve as the other cables in the line, making it quite durable and easy to handle. This cable is also compatible with Solid Connect.
