The Lionesses squad for AfroBasket is brimming with firepower, including Cierra Dillard, a two-time Women’s Basketball League Africa winner, and Yacine Diop, a 2021 Women’s Afrobasket All-Star. But perhaps the most intriguing prospect as Senegal seeks to reclaim the AfroBasket crown last won in 2015 is Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) Most Valuable Player Ndioma Kane.
Standing at 1.84m, the versatile forward combines length, agility and touch around the rim — making her a constant matchup problem on both sides of the ball.
Kane made her senior national team debut last year and wasted no time making an impact. She starred at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Rwanda, where she led Senegal in scoring with 16.6 points and pulled down 6.8 rebounds per game. Her standout performance earned her a place on the All-Tournament Team, thanks in part to her team-best 21.4 efficiency rating. Later, she featured at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgium, holding her own against elite global competition.
As Senegal look to end their decade-long AfroBasket title drought, expect Kane to play a central role in their resurgence.
