Sony Group, Bandai Namco Sign Strategic Partnership

Sony Group and Bandai Namco Holdings said they signed a strategic partnership to broaden areas of collaboration, with Sony taking a stake of about 2.5% in Bandai for about $460 million.

Sony plans to acquire 16 million shares for about 68 billion yen, equivalent to $464.1 million, from existing Bandai shareholders, the companies said Thursday.

Sony and Bandai Namco said they had historically collaborated on various projects in fields including games, anime and music, and the companies plan to expand their collaboration to a broader range of areas.
