Cast Adds Sarah Bock, More

Hulu’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot pilot is filling out its cast alongside previously announced stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

The new series regulars include Faly Rakotohavana as Hugo, Ava Jean as Larkin, Sarah Bock as Gracie, Daniel Di Tomasso as Abe and Jack Cutmore-Scott as Mr. Burke.

Rakotohavana previously starred in Unprisoned and Secret Society of Second Born Royals, while Jean has appeared in A Week Away and Law & Order: SVU. Bock is best known for starring in season two of Severance and Di Tomasso has appeared in Witches of East End and Major Crimes. Meanwhile, Cutmore-Scott is known for his roles in Oppenheimer and Frasier.

Rakotohavana is repped by Media Artists Group, The ESI Network and Katz Public Relations and Jean is repped by Thruline Entertainment, Evolve Artists Agency and Yorn Levine Barnes. Bock is repped by Kutalent Agency, Amplified and Hansen Jacobson while Di Tomasso is repped by CESD and Authentic Talent & Literary Management. Cutmore-Scott is repped by UTA, Independent Talent Group, Entertainment 360 and Hansen Jacobson.

The reboot pilot was announced back in February. Not much has been revealed about the new show’s plot, but sources previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the new Buffy will focus on a new slayer (Armstrong). Gellar will appear in a recurring role as Buffy, which she originated in the WB-turned-UPN series that ran from 1997 until 2003.

Nora and Lilla Zuckerman are set to write, showrun and executive produce the pilot from 20th Television and Searchlight. Chloé Zhao will direct and executive produce under her Book of Shadows production banner. In addition to acting on the show, Gellar will executive produce alongside Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will also executive produce via Suite B, and Dolly Parton is attached to executive produce via Sandollar. Berman, the Kuzuis and Parton’s Sandollar all served as executive producers on the original Buffy series.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was originally a 1992 film that starred Kristy Swanson as the titular character and was written by Joss Whedon and directed by Fran Kuzui. The series debuted five years later with Gellar starring alongside Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, David Boreanaz, Seth Green and James Marsters.

Boreanaz continued to portray his character, Angel, in the spinoff series Angel at The WB for five seasons.

Gellar revealed that the reboot was officially in production when she took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a photo of her name tag and script during the first table read. “Baby steps,” she captioned the post.
