The Oppo A series of entry-level Android smartphones is apparently due a shake-up with the introduction of its first ever GT variant. It might be joined by another new sibling with an even bigger screen. Neither is thought to cost more than $150, yet come with the specs of some more premium handsets.

The Oppo A series has made some impressive strides in 2025 with upgrades to flagship-grade durability despite their mid-range looks and 120Hz displays, found in the global version of the A5 Pro that now starts at INR 17,998 (~$208) on Amazon.in.

Some of their successors might be as interesting as they are affordable, as one might launch as a GT version of the A6 for the first time.

It might be joined by an A6 Max with an even bigger 1.5K LTPS display, which might be driven by Snapdragon 7-series silicon from Qualcomm, while both versions of the A5 Pro uses MediaTek platforms.

The A6 GT and Max might also have dual 50MP cameras, which might be an upgrade over the 50+2MP acme of the A5 series.

They are also backed to launch as “large battery” smartphones, which might mean they improve further on the 6,000mAh spec of the Chinese A5 Pro.

Despite that, the supposed new additions to the Oppo A6 series are thought to fall into the 999 yuan (~$139) or less category on their launch in China.
