Oppo Find X9 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra and Xiaomi 16 Ultra to come with external lens mounts

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra and Xiaomi 16 Ultra are supposedly upcoming Android flagships that might have a very similar design for very similar (albeit optional) reasons. The three devices are thought to take very different approaches to challenging for the 2026 camera smartphone crown. Only one of them is thought to stick with tried-and-true hardware that might give it the win in this category nonetheless.

Xiaomi’s MWC 2025 showcase included a new and innovative Magnetic Lens Kit that might spell the end of external lenses or adapters that interface directly with the camera hump of a flagship smartphone.

It is not ready for the 16 Ultra, though, according to a new leak. The flagship might have at least 1 Leica-branded external lens nonetheless for its 2026 Photography Kit, which might compete with its Zeiss-sponsored counterpart for the Vivo X300 Ultra.

Oppo is thought to join in on the (also non-magnetic) external lens fun in 2026 for the first time with the Find X9 Ultra, meaning that it too could have an accessory somewhat like this 55mm Hasselblad lens as listed on Amazon.

The smartphone is also now backed to retain the dual periscope zoom set-up of its X8 Ultra forebear rather than adopt something newer like the ‘switchable lens’ solution of the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra.

The Find X9 Ultra might also fall behind the X300 Ultra with its rumored continuous zoom upgrade, while the 16 Ultra could move ahead with its new 1-inch sensor.

Oppo is believed to fight hard to retain its mobile photography crown with the Find X9 Ultra nonetheless in 2026.
