Fallout meets Minecraft and Valheim in huge new open-world adventure

Fans of the open-world survival genre will want to check this game out, especially if you love Fallout, Minecraft and Valheim.

When it comes to open-world crafting games, it doesn’t get much better or better than Minecraft. Since 2009, Minecraft has set the standard of its genre and has inspired a plethora of franchises over the years.

Today, Minecraft is an absolute goliath, exceeding the world of video games with movies, animated series, countless merch and much more, gaining fans from all ages across the world.

As for Valheim, you could consider this a game inspired by Minecraft, albeit with a Norse world setting that ups the difficulty of its survival mechanics.

Then we have Fallout, which over the years has provided entertaining stories, memorable moments and much like Minecraft, has its own TV series.

If you’re after an RPG that blends elements of all games mentioned in this article, then the ominously named The Apocalypse might be your cup of tea and talk about a name that’s right on the nose!

The Apocalypse is a low-poly sandbox survival shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world. Scavenge, craft, build, and fight against zombies and mutants,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Enjoy fast-paced gunplay and light survival in a fun, open-world adventure with multiple game modes!”

The trailer for The Apocalypse provides hints of the harsh mutant-infested world of Fallout, the difficulty of Valheim and the cosy blocky visuals of Minecraft. All the ingredients to be a fun, open-world, sandbox RPG.

Developed and published by Team APOCA, The Apocalypse does not have a release date at the time of writing, but it’s “coming soon” to Steam early access.

Finally, be sure to add The Apocalypse to your Steam wishlist to be notified of any updates. Hopefully, if this game proves to be a success, I’d like to see a console release one day.
