Cassidy’s incredible comeback
We arrived in London with Nick Cassidy as Formula E’s most recent race winner in Berlin, and that momentum clearly stayed as he banked not one but two wins in the British capital for Jaguar TCS Racing. Over his last race weekend with the team, with it confirmed ahead of the double-header that he would be exiting Jaguar at the end of the season, Cassidy stood on the top step of the podium across Rounds 15 and 16.

His recent run of form after a very slow start to the season also saw him finish second in the drivers’ world championship fight, just 31 points off newly-crowned World Champion Oliver Rowland. After winning in Shanghai, then again in Berlin and now twice in London, he was able to launch himself up the standings to finish second in the final standings – one place better than Season 10.
His hard work, as well as Mitch Evans’ wins in São Paulo and Berlin also meant that Jaguar finished the season second across all titles: drivers’, teams’ and manufacturers’.
Porsche take the teams’ honours
TAG Heuer Porsche left London with two big championship crowns. Thanks to the efforts of Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix da Costa, they made history for Porsche and helped them win the teams’ title for the first time in their Formula E journey.
“What an amazing achievement for Porsche in Formula E to win the Manufacturers’ World Championship and the Teams’ World Championship,” Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E said after the weekend.
“I’m really proud of the whole team, of all the support in the factory, of everyone involved in the project. Both drivers did an incredible job. I’m really happy with this result. I think we’ll only realise in the coming days what we achieved here, and I’m really thankful and grateful to be part of this fantastic team.”
Thanks to the efforts of customer teams Andretti and CUPRA KIRO, Porsche were also able to be crowned the inaugural winners of the manufacturers’ title in Season 11.
De Vries doing the double
Last year in London, Mahindra Racing were celebrating their first double points finish of the season and fast forward a year later Nyck de Vries collected two consecutive second place finishes around the ExCel.
It has been a huge year for the team, who also finished fourth in the teams’ standings, as they undertook a big challenge to redesign their entire car ahead of the GEN3 Evo era. Their hard work has certainly paid off though, as podium results have been fruitful this year with five to their name thanks to both de Vries and Edoardo Mortara.
Heartbreak for McLaren
It wasn’t the final race NEOM McLaren and the papaya fans were hoping for on Sunday, as both Sam Bird and Taylor Barnard were forced to retire for separate incidents leading to a double DNF.
London was the final race for the team, after they shared that they would be departing the championship at the end of Season 11. It was hoped that London could end with a bang, especially considering the success Barnard has brought across his rookie campaign, but it wasn’t to be.
Instead, Barnard found himself in a collision with Norman Nato (Nissan) and Bird was caught up in an incident with Envision Racing’s Robin Frijns – leading both to box the cars.
Another box ticked for Ticktum
Dan Ticktum can add a new trophy to his cabinet after his home race, as the Brit added Julius Baer Pole Position holder to his resume for Round 16. Going up against Cassidy, Ticktum achieved the better lap to take his first Formula E pole position, the same year as he secured his maiden podium in Tokyo and later victory in Jakarta.
Unfortunately for Ticktum, he wasn’t able to start from the P1 grid slot after he was handed a five-place grid drop after causing a collision with Jaguar’s Mitch Evans the day before, but he did still bank the additional three points.
On the other side of the CUPRA KIRO garage, teammate David Beckmann also got his first point of the season after finishing 10th on Sunday.
