Nick Bryan Wins Silver at U23 World Rowing Championships

Syracuse sophomore Nicholas Bryan earned a silver medal in the men’s eight at the 2025 U23 World Rowing Championships this past weekend in Poznan, Poland. Bryan sat four-seat of New Zealand’s men’s eight that was second in Sunday’s A Final behind Great Britain (5:29.60) and ahead of Germany (5:33.52) which earned bronze.

“It was a real full circle moment for me as I did juniors in 2021 with the majority of these guys but we didn’t get to compete due to Covid,” Bryan said. “But the past six weeks of training and competing with them has been amazing. To be able to compete away from it with a silver medal is surreal.”

Seven other Orange oarsmen competed at the U23 World Championships including Payton Gauthier ’26 (Canada M8+), Beck Honebein ’27 (USA M8+), Declan Fry ’25 (USA M8+), Luke Dunleavy ’27 (Ireland M4-), Jack Gorman (Ireland M4-), Niki Strauss ’28 (AUT Mx) and Joe Lynch ’29 (Australia M4-).
