Cristin Milioti has a whole lotta of EGOT action going on. She already has been a Lead Actress Tony Award nominee for her lead role in Broadway’s Once — which she played more than 500 times from 2011-2013 — a Grammy winner for that show’s cast album and now recipient of her first Emmy nomination as Lead Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology or Television Movie for her acclaimed villain Sofia Falcone in The Penguin. And also this season she returned as Nanette Cole in the iconic USS Callister episodes of Black Mirror. It’s a role she first played back in 2017, and now again eight years later.
In fact, between The Penguin’s 24 Emmy Nominations and Black Mirror’s 10, she is in no less that two of the five nominees for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, adding up to 34 nominations between them.
Milioti continues to show she knows how to pick ’em as also evidenced by her past career choices including that Broadway run in Once; her first series in 2006, playing Catherine Sacrimoni in another Emmy juggernaut, The Sopranos; guest shots in The Good Wife, 30 Rock, Nurse Jackie, The Mindy Project and Fargo; the key part of Tracy McConnell, the “mother” in the final season of How I Met Your Mother; plus movie roles in Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated The Wolf of Wall Street, playing the first wife of Leo DiCaprio’s character; and opposite Andy Samberg in the critically acclaimed Sundance sensation Palm Springs.

It is an enormously impressive career so far, and Milioti is red hot, especially opposite Colin Farrell’s Penguin in a role that has taken her to the next level and now to the Emmys. We talk about all of this and more in a wide-ranging conversation as Milioti joins me for this week’s episode of my Deadline video series, The Actor’s Side.
