Call of Duty’s wild 2025 predictions from 2012 are coming true

The Simpsons predicted the future events for many conspiracy theorists and now a $4 billion game has joined the conversation.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II released in 2012 featured a hypothetical scenario of 2025 at that time and the world is here with many fictitious events happening now.

The video game’s time-travel version of 2025 was filled with drones, neon cities, AI-driven vehicles and a political system off the rails.

Some of the predictions by the nine instalment of the Call of Duty series included:

The European Union dissolving: The union didn’t dissolve, however, Brexit happened.

US having first female president: US didn’t elect the first female president. However, Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton took part in election campaigns.

Global instability, technological warfare and fractured alliances: Several parts of the world are facing warfare and instability, including Palestine, Israel, Syria (some parts), as well as the conflict between Pakistan and India, and military clashes between Thailand and Cambodia. So, it appeared to be true to some extent.

Anti-gravity hover cars: Anti-gravity hover cars seem a bit distant for now, however, flying scooters are being tested by different companies.

Hologram technology: Hologram technology is now becoming normal as many artists are using it, e.g. Tupac and Abba. Late Indian musician Sidhu Moose Wala’s upcoming world tour in 2026 will feature hologram shows.

Multiplayer map (Aftermath): The multiplayer mode in the game allowed players to track kills and team scores in real time and it was considered one of the most-iconic developments at that time. Now, it’s normal with multiple games offering multiplayer mode with real time tracking.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II gave us a snapshot of 2025 in 2012, however, the game rarely gets the predictive praise The Simpsons does.
