Five cops martyred as robbers attack police post in Sadiqabad




SADIQABAD (Dunya News) – Five policemen embraced martyrdom and two sustained injuries when dozens of robbers attacked a police post near Mahi Chowk here on Thursday night, Dunya News reported.

The martyred policemen have been identified as Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Saleem, Nakheel, Constable Khalil and Ghazanfar. The dead bodies have been shifted to Civil Hospital.

According to a police spokesman, dozens of bandits attacked a police post and martyred five personnel of Elite Force and injured two, who were admitted to hospital.

Upon receiving information about the robbers’ attack, DPO Irfan Ali Samoun reached the spot along with a police contingent.

One robber was also killed in the encounter. The robbers fired rocket launchers at the post. DPO Irfan Ali Samo said the outlaws will be brought to justice.

A heavy police force reached the area and all roads leading to Katcha area have been cordoned off, with the enhancement of security and patrolling.

The fight against the attacking robbers is ongoing and they are being pursued, the police spokesman said.

The attackers were equipped with modern weapons. Police have launched a search operation and are using modern weapons and armored vehicles to arrest or kill the robbers.

Mohsin Naqvi condemns attack

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack on police check post near Sadiqabad.

In a statement, he paid tribute to the five police personnel martyred in the attack.

He expressed heartfelt condolences with the families of the martyred police personnel.

The interior minister said police personnel embraced martyrdom while bravely confronting the cowardly attack carried out by dacoits under the cover of darkness.

He said the nation will always remember the great sacrifices of police personnel who fought bravely against the dacoits of Kacha.
