Maris, Fathom of Night has a completely new third phase in Nightreign where players get a special, nostalgic weapon.
Everdark Sovereign Augur is one of the latest bosses to grace Elden Ring Nightreign’s new hardcore mode. For those that played the base version, the floating jellyfish remains weak to similar affinities, but its new third form introduces an iconic staple in FromSoftware games. Here’s how to beat Everdark Augur and how best to use the Storm Ruler skill.

How to beat Everdark Augur

The only thing you need to do to beat Everdark Sovereign Augur is to use the Legendary weapon you get after beating its first phase, specifically the Storm Ruler skill. In the first phase, Augur is weak to Lightning, but in its second phase, just use the Storm Ruler skill on the weapon. It uses FP to send out a wave of magical energy, capable of hitting the boss Augur as it flies around the arena. This is basically the weapon from the Storm King, Yhorm the Giant, and Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy fights.
- Upgrade your weapon to the Legendary version
- Hold the skill button (Left Trigger) to charge the attack which also recharges your FP
- Press the light attack button once the weapon is fully charged (there is a visual cue)
By holding the skill button, you will start charging up to unleash the biggest magic slashing attack. Holding the button also quickly recharges your FP. The fully charged attack sends out a vertical shockwave that will hit the boss no matter where it is, provided you are locked on.

If you do not charge the attack, you can send out smaller shockwaves. This can be good if you’re trying to avoid Augur’s tsunami attacks.
The fight is extremely straightforward and the easiest of the Everdark Sovereign fights so far. All you need to do is beat the first form (which is technically the second form from the base boss fight), which itself is simple, even for melee characters. Do not forget to upgrade your weapon to the Legendary version, and then it’s basically home free. This one is a little bit different to other Legendary weapons and upgrade systems.
Beating the Everdark Sovereign Augur is unlike any of the other boss fights in Nightreign. It features a call back to a few bosses from FromSoftware’s previous games, so all you need to worry about it getting to the boss fight and staying alive.
