The makers of “G2” celebrated the seventh anniversary of Indian breakout hit “Goodachari” by releasing character posters for stars Adivi Sesh, Emraan Hashmi and Wamiqa Gabbi while locking in a May 1, 2026 theatrical bow.
Sesh reprises his role as Agent Gopi in the follow-up, with the newly unveiled character art signaling a significant expansion in scope for the franchise. The sequel is targeting international markets alongside domestic audiences as it scales up from its predecessor’s more contained storyline.
Director Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi is steering the project, backed by a consortium of producers including TG Vishwa Prasad’s People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts, and AK Entertainments. The production wrapped after a 150-day shoot spanning six countries and 23 constructed sets.
“We’ve dared to dream bigger — taking this story to a global scale while keeping its soul deeply personal,” Sesh said of the expanded canvas. The actor praised his co-stars’ “power-packed avatars,” noting their performances “have taken the scale and intensity of this film a notch higher.”
Supporting players Murali Sharma, Supriya Yarlagadda, and Madhu Shalini round out the ensemble for what’s being positioned as a tentpole release across five Indian languages: Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The original “Goodachari” struck gold in 2018 by reinventing the Indian spy thriller template with grounded action sequences and smart scripting. The sleeper hit’s success paved the way for this bigger-budgeted sequel, which aims to compete with international espionage franchises while maintaining its local roots.
Sesh, known for films like “Evaru” and “Major,” has co-written “G2,” ensuring continuity with the franchise’s tone and storyline.
Separately, production is also underway on action drama “Dacoit,” where Sesh stars alongside Mrunal Thakur.
