Getty ImagesA special tribute is being created to celebrate the anniversary of an Oscar-nominated movie filmed in Guernsey 50 years ago.
The Story of Adèle H. features dozens of locations across the island and local actors. To mark its half-century milestone, a new documentary is being made about the film.
The French historical drama focused on the true story of Adèle Hugo, the youngest daughter of author Victor Hugo, and her unrequited love for a military officer.
To mark the anniversary, The Victor Hugo Centre teamed up with filmmaker Lars Janssen to create a short documentary about the project.
Mr Janssen has interviewed islanders who were involved in the project – including actors and carpenters.
Mr Janssen said: “I’m proud to be able to interview all these people that had their own interesting experiences.
“It’s great to be able to record that little piece of history.”
Kathryn Prince was asked to take part in the film through her involvement as an actress at the Guernsey Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Club.
She shared memories of filming at locations such as Castle Cornet and said the experience was “a load of fun”.
Ms Prince said: “I’d sort of put it out of my thoughts.
“But now that it’s surfaced again I’m racking my brain to try to remember all that I can because it was exciting at the time.”
The documentary will premiere at The Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts on 6 September before a screening of the 1975 film.
French actress, Isabelle Adjani, was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading role for her part as Adèle Hugo in the film.
