This is a press release posted in addition to our usual editorial content.

Day Off Interactive Limited announced its official launch publicly today. Founded in July 2024, this Ireland based studio is dedicated to creating innovative strategy and simulation games.

The studio operates from its headquarters in Dublin, with a distributed team of experienced developers across Europe working remotely. The inaugural game title is currently slated for announcement in September 2025, thanks to initial funding from angel investors.

The studio brings together a wealth of industry talent including:

  • Karoliina Korppoo (Creative Director): Known for her work as Lead Designer on Cities: Skylines at Colossal Order, and a TED speaker on urban design through gaming. Karoliina previously founded her own startup, 10th Muse, and is now focused on creating living worlds and sandbox experiences.
  • Des Gayle (Head of Production): Founder of Altered Gene and former Producer on the BAFTA-winning Life is Strange. Des has led production on acclaimed indie titles such as Citizen Sleeper, and has over 20 years of industry experience across more than 50 titles. Des is also Deputy Chair of BAFTA Games and a founding member of POC in Play.
  • Colman Humphrey (Technical Director | Data Systems Architect): Co-founder and former CEO of Slight, a no-code data app builder. He was previously Principal Data Scientist at Via, developing shift optimisation tools, and Senior Software Engineer at Formlogic, designing metrology and precision-inspection tools. He now specialises in the system design of in-game characters and their reactions to player behaviour.
  • Jayne Robinson (Fractional Marketing Director): Former Marketing Director at Other Things, a games industry creative agency, working on campaigns for Bandai Namco Cross Store UK, Until Then and Make-A-Wish UK. Jayne was also a Brand Manager at Super Evil Megacorp, contributing to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate and Netflix Games’ Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game
  • Ethan Grant (Studio Director and Product Owner): A bizdev and product strategist with over 11 years experience supporting product and game start-ups, Ethan has helped launch over a dozen Kickstarter campaigns, and supported multiple indie studios in business development capacities. He’s worked across games, escape rooms, and industrial design, and now leads Day Off Interactive as Studio Director.
  • Karl Rabbitt (Deputy Studio Director and Designer): As a multidisciplinary designer and product lead, Karl brings a decade of experience across industrial design, 3D modelling, and creative production. Along with winning product design competitions and being awarded patents for his industrial design, Karl has most recently supported a remote game development team as an associate producer. His long-term creative partnership with Ethan now continues at Day Off as Deputy Studio Director.

The team is also partnering with key contractors including voice actor Marc Silk, concept artist Johanna Rupprecht, artist Cat Rao, graphic designer Stuart Scargill, and composer Laura Ryder (of Dreamfeel’s If Found); as well as development partners MobiusCode (Exotic Matter) and Cyborn (Wall Town Wonders, Hubris, Horizon: Forbidden West). The team chose coproduction as its founders include alumni from SpielFabriques Match program, where the benefits of cross-studio collaboration were adopted both for better quality processes and risk mitigation during development – further collaborations are to be announced.

Day Off Interactive’s core values include innovation through simulation, sustainable business growth, and community connection, fostering a welcoming and trusting environment for dialogue and idea sharing. The team works 100% remotely and has adopted the 4 day work week, in keeping with the brand name.
