How to Run DARK SOULS III in Super Ultrawide Resolution (21:9 and 32:9)

Released in 2016, FromSoftware’s final DARK SOULS title has a bit of an issue for lovers of the super ultrawide resolution: it doesn’t quite work. Though it’s been a notorious issue with the developer for a long time, there’s a way to get around this in 2025, and it’s actually very simple.

If you’re the proud owner of a 32:9 super ultrawide resolution monitor, then your journey through Lothric will be a beautiful venture, though do bear in mind that pre-rendered cutscenes will remain merely 16:9. To get the resolution to work, you’ll need to download a mod, though it’s a very easy task to do, so don’t get discouraged.

The mod in question is the Proper PC Experience Mod in Nexusmods, which brings superior features for the computer port. While it offers things like high refresh rate, FPS, G-Sync, and more, the ones we care about are the ultrawide functionality and the increased FOV.

Here’s how to download the mod:

  • Go to the website and download the mod. You’ll need to create an account on Nexusmods in order to be able to — select DS3_Proper_PC_Experience_Mod_v1.7.
  • Find your game’s executable file (you can follow our guide to do that here).
  • Drag and drop the file you downloaded (named d3d11.dll) to the same location the .exe file is located in.

With that done, you should be able to launch your game and benefit from all of the mod additions for the PC community. It’s quite an easy endeavour, and should give you the option to select super ultrawide resolutions, alongside changing some cutscenes (the ones in-engine) to show in 32:9 resolution!
