Red Dead Redemption 3 Already Getting Gamers Hyped For The Future

Red Dead Redemption 3 is a pipe dream… for now

Red Dead Redemption 2 did a lot of work in filling in the gaps that the original game left behind.

As a prequel set roughly a decade before John Marston’s adventures, it introduced new characters and filled in a lot of backstory for existing ones, most notably Dutch Van der Linde and the Van der Linde gang.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 seemingly never getting any major expansions that further the single-player story in any meaningful way, attention has understandably turned to where the series goes next and the possibility of a third game in the series and what that might look like.

Over on Reddit, fans asked for the best theories on what Rockstar might do next, and there were some reasonably appealing plans amongst all of the shouting.

“I think it will be a prequel to RDR2, since RDR2 is a prequel to RDR1 and we don’t know what fully happened on the boat that showed a complete change in Dutch’s character and other events and in depth story of other characters as a whole. If I remember correctly John was on that boat so maybe we’ll play as a young John Marston and the final mission being on the boat,” one said.

Others thought it may be the end of the Redemption portion of the Red Dead series entirely, saying, “I think the Redemption series is over. People forget the franchise began with Red Dead Revolver about the story of Red Harlow, and then they did Redemption 1 and 2 about the Van Der Linde gang. I think the next game will be Red Dead R____. Retribution, Retaliation, Revolution, Revenge, etc.”

Whatever Rockstar does decide to do next with the series, it’s clear they are heavily focused on GTA 6 right now, so it’s unlikely there will be much in the way of breaking news in 2025.
