Agenda for Latin Lawyer ACI conference in São Paulo is now live!

The full programme for this year’s Latin Lawyer and Global Investigation Review: Anti-Corruption & Investigations Brazil conference is now live.

The event will be held at São Paulo’s Rosewood Hotel on 23 October and is free to attend for in-house counsel and government representatives. You can sign up here.

The full details of the agenda can be found here.

Now in its 13th iteration, the conference brings together leading practitioners, senior government officials and key company representatives from Brazil and beyond to discuss recent developments in anti-corruption practices and investigations challenges.

TozziniFreire Advogados partners Shin Jae Kim and Renata Muzzi Gomes de Almeida, and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP partner Andrew Levine are co-chairing the conference.

Confirmed speakers so far include Beatriz Podcameni, the regional compliance officer at LATAM Holcim, and Marcelo Pontes Vianna, secretary for private sector integrity at Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General (CGU). All confirmed speakers can be found here.

The event’s gold sponsor is BDO. There will also be a networking lunch, which Ropes & Gray LLP is sponsoring. Madruga BTW is sponsoring the drinks reception, which will take place after the last panel of the day. ICC FraudNet, LACCA, Lexology and Women’s White Collar Defense Association are supporting organisations.

Following the opening remarks, the first panel of the day will bring together enforcement officials to discuss the latest anti-corruption developments in Brazil, including the US Department of Justice’s updated FCPA guidance, as well as new protocols aimed at improving coordination in leniency agreements.

The second panel will assemble a range of defence practitioners, who will build on the themes of the first panel and provide their own assessments of anti-corruption trends in Brazil.

Following a coffee break, the conference will continue with a discussion that looks at Latin American anti-corruption efforts beyond Brazil. Speakers will delve into the impact of political developments across the region and how these are shaping legal and regulatory reforms. Panellists will also provide their predictions of what is next for enforcement across the region.

After a networking lunch, the speakers of the fourth panel will focus on the implications of human rights, ESG-related compliance and environmental crimes for companies operating in Latin America.

The conference will conclude with a debate on best practices when it comes to integrating AI into compliance programmes. Panellists will explore the emerging regulatory trends of AI-enabled compliance programmes, including subsequent risks and guidance.

Delegates are then invited to a drinks reception, which will also take place at the Rosewood Hotel.

Speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
