Olympic wrestling gold medallist Gable Steveson will make his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) debut on 12 September.
The 25-year-old, who won gold at the Tokyo Games in 2021, will undertake his first professional fight at LFA 217 in Minnesota, USA, against Braden Peterson.
Steveson retired from wrestling just a few months after being crowned Olympic champion in Japan, bowing out in March 2022 with the NCAA Championships heavyweight title.
The Minnesota man switched to the world of WWE – World Wrestling Entertainment – where he made his debut the following year. He also dipped into the world of American football when he signed for NFL team Buffalo Bills in May 2024, before being released three months later.
Steveson then shifted his focus to MMA, and will now appear in his first competition fight at the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake.
