The other day I posted up an edited piece from All the Smoke regarding Kawhi Leonard’s departure. Danny Green had been on the show and talked about a number of topics spanning his career.
One of there piece of Spurs lore that he spoke on referred to the 2013 NBA Finals.
Green said that in the past, he’s head toward the basket, treating a rebound as a fast break opportunity. In this instance, he left the Spurs as a five-on-four giving the Miami Heat the extra opportunities to score. This in turn caused quite possibly the biggest upset in Spurs history.
Don’t get me wrong, it is not Green’s fault. As he says in the interview, it was the way the play had always been designed.
But after that fateful season, Pop apparently changed the runaway rebound until the ball was secured.
What do you think, Pounders?
