Prince William and Kate Middleton currently wish to make their permanent home in Forest Lodge. The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly planning to leave their present four-bedroom house, Adelaide Cottage. They are now shifting to their larger Georgian mansion later this year, which boasts eight bedrooms. As per a source, the couple is looking for a “real home” for their kids. William and Middleton share three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Prince William and Kate Middleton want their kids to grow up in a home and not ‘museum,’ says source
As per RadarOnline, Prince William and Kate Middleton will permanently settle at their Forest Lodge home in Windsor estate. A source said, “Relocating gives them the chance at a clean slate and to put some of the less happy memories in the past.” Another insider stated that the royal couple wants their three children to be “raised in a real family home” and “not in something that feels like a museum.” Moreover, the Prince of Wales has made it “clear that he has no interest in living in an enormous palace.”
William and Middleton are reportedly paying market rent to the Crown Estate. They are also privately funding renovations of the grand house. Besides the eight bedrooms, the mansion has three floors, Venetian windows, a decorated fireplace, and a tennis court. Ingrid Seward, royal commentator and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, also shared his thoughts on the house.
She stated, “This is a really beautiful Georgian house, in a secluded spot, so it will suit them perfectly. William doesn’t want to live in a huge palace.” Seward noted the future monarch is “very conscious of the environment, the cost of running an enormous residence, and the symbolism of living more simply.”
She further stated that William and his wife never wanted live-in staff. However, they do “prefer their nanny and housekeeper to be in smaller cottages around the main home.” As per the royal commentator, “It’s more modern, and it’s what Kate is used to as well.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ decision to move to Forest Lodge hints that they might never move to Buckingham Palace even after the former is crowned king. Seward also explained, “William was never going to move into Buckingham Palace. He probably hasn’t spent much time there and has no affection for it. He wants to be a hands-on father as well as a monarch, and he believes the monarchy has to change in order to survive.”
