Oscar-winner Emma Stone has debuted a bold new look for her new film. The redheaded actress has shaved her head to star in the film Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.
The trailer, which dropped on August 28, features Stone as pharmacy CEO Michelle Fuller. She is kidnapped by two conspiracy theorists who are convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth.
The trailer shows Stone as Fuller, who is seen commuting to work from her home. A voiceover states, “They want you to think it’s you, that it’s you who made this world. But it’s always been them,” as Chappel Roan’s “Good Luck Babe” plays in the background.

The dialogue continues, “All we’ve lost… All this been done to us… We’re setting that right again.” Then, in a flash, Stone is knocked out outside her home and taken to the “headquarters of the Human Resistance,” where her head is shaved as a way to prevent her from “contacting” her mother ship.
This is the third time Stone and the director have worked together. Previously, they shot Kinds of Kindness, The Favourite, and Poor Things.
Bugonia was inspired, per Entertainment Weekly, by the 2003 Korean sci-fi film Save The Green Planet! from director Jang Joon-hwan.
Stone’s last collaboration with Lanthimos resulted in her second Best Actress Oscar win. She took home a golden statuette for playing Bella Baxter, a childlike woman in Victorian London who comes to life through a brain transplant and begins a journey of self-discovery.
She said after she accepted her award, “I think I blacked out. Yes, I was very shocked. I still feel like I’m spinning a little bit.”
Stone is the 13th woman to win two Best Actress trophies. Her first came in 2017 for the romantic musical La La Land, and she was nominated for supporting actress in 2015 and 2019.
