Charles Spencer is remembering his late sister Princess Diana.

The Princess of Wales’ older brother honored the 28th anniversary of her death by bringing a bouquet of flowers to her burial site at Althorp Estate.

“Flowers we cut this morning from Althop’s gardens for the Island,” Charles captioned a pair of photos—including one of the pink and white flower arrangement and another of the private island where Diana is buried—shared to Instagram Aug. 31. “Always an impossible day.”

Princess Diana died Aug. 31, 1997 at age 36 of injuries sustained in a car crash in Paris alongside her partner Dodi al-Fayed. Her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were 15 and 12 respectively when they lost their mother and famously walked with their uncle, their father—Diana’s ex-husband—King Charles III and their grandfather Prince Philip behind her casket during her funeral procession in London.

She was later laid to rest on an island located in the middle of a lake on the grounds of her childhood home, Althorp House, where Charles still resides today. In addition to him, the princess is also survived by their older sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale, 70, and Lady Jane Fellowes, 68.

Just a few days ago, Diana’s time capsule—which she buried in 1991, six years before her death—at the Great Ormand Street Hospital (GOSH) in London was opened to reveal an array of contents that encapsulated the early ‘90s.

Princess Diana helped bury a time capsule at a London hospital in 1991. Now, nearly 35 years later, the box has been opened.

Indeed, the items uncovered included Kylie Minogue’s Rhythm of Love album from 1990, a Casio pocket TV, a passport, a copy of the Sunday Times newspaper from the date of the time capsule’s burial and a photo of Diana, among other mementos.

Last month, the 9th Earl Spencer further remembered his sister’s legacy on her 44th wedding anniversary to her ex-husband by sharing a throwback photo of him and Diana as kids.

“A long ago summer, by the swimming pool at our childhood home, Park House, Sandringham,” Charles captioned a July 29 Instagram post, which sees the Spencer siblings posed in their bathing suits. “Diana and I both proudly showing off our swimming badges (sewn onto our swimming costumes).”

“These were awarded (sparingly) by Mrs. Lansdowne, a fairly terrifying but very gifted swimming instructor, who came to stay each year,” he continued. “We were never out of that pool.”
