We Are Rewind focuses on retro-designed tech, as the name implies, and the GB-001 is one of the brand’s latest products that capitalizes on the supposed resurgence of the cassette tape and mixtape (remember those?) It’s on display at IFA 2025 in Berlin.
Apparently, while younger Millennials reveled in the vintage nature of vinyl, Gen-Zers are all about cassette, the technology that’s similarly retro for them. The GB-001 is a nostalgic boombox that functions as both a cassette player and recorder that delivers stereo sound thanks to separate left and right woofers and tweeters. In total, it has four speakers with two woofers for extended bass and two soft dome tweeters to handle voices and treble, offering a total 104W of power output. There’s dynamic power control to reduce distortion and refined EQ, along with a spatialization function for a wider soundstage.

Along with listening to old, dusted off cassette tapes, you can also stream tunes via Bluetooth or connect a device via 3.5mm jack. The cassette deck mechanism has a user-adjustable motor that includes internal speed regulation. For recording and playing, it supports both Type I and Type II (chrome) cassettes with optimized biasing. To ensure low noise recording and the best possible frequency response, it uses an active AC erasing head.
The GB-001 is equipped with two backlit VU meters, giving you control over playback and recording levels. It also has a microphone input with adjustable level for live recordings. You can also plug in a guitar and use the system as an amp.

Along with the sleek, retro design, the GB-001 comes loaded with Bluetooth 5.4 and a rechargeable and replaceable battery. Controls are on the unit for Bluetooth pairing, power, tape type selector, and bass, treble, and balance control knobs.

The We Are Rewind GB-001 is available in Europe for 449 Euros, or the equivalent of about $730 in Canada. There’s no word yet on North American availability. The products is on display at the Aquipa booth in Grosser Stern, Level 4, VIP room 1 and 2.
