Cambodia edges Pakistan in AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifier-Xinhua

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) — Host Cambodia edged Pakistan 1-0 in its second group match of the AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers at the Olympic Stadium here on Saturday night.

Forward Yem Devit netted the only goal in the 31st minute to give Cambodia its first win of the campaign. Despite several chances in the second half, neither side was able to score again.

The qualifiers run from September 3 to 9, with Cambodia drawn in Group G alongside Oman, Pakistan and Iraq. Cambodia had opened with a 0-0 draw against Oman on Wednesday and will next face group leaders Iraq next Tuesday.

A total of 44 teams are competing across 11 groups. The group winners and the four best runners-up will advance to the 2026 finals in Saudi Arabia.
