JERUSALEM, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) — Chinese automaker Chery launched a new hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) in Israel on Tuesday, its Israeli dealership Freesbe said in a statement.
The model, Chery FX HEV, is a hybrid version of the gasoline and electric versions of the Chery FX compact crossover SUV, also called Omoda 5, both already offered in Israel.
The hybrid powertrain of the newly launched model combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a capacity of 143 hp, which is joined by an electric motor with a power of 204 hp.
Chery, which entered the Israeli market in November 2022, also offers several gasoline and hybrid versions of its Tiggo crossover SUV series in the country, as well as the mid-size sedan Arrizo 8, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
Also offered in Israel are two models of Chery’s crossover SUV brand, Jaecoo, namely the Jaecoo 5 (gasoline and electric) and Jaecoo 7 (gasoline and hybrid).
In the January-August period, Chery reached the first place in the overall Israeli car sales list with 28,274 units sold, according to figures issued by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association. ■
